Over a year ago I showcased a Spider-Man ACEO by Dion Hamill. He’s got a new Spidey ACEO currently up on eBay. Dion used gouache on stiff quality illustration board for this piece. If you like it, bid high and bid often.

Spider-Man :

Death of Spider-Man
On another note, I have just completed the Death of Spider-Man story arc from Ultimate Comics : Spider-Man. After this arc, it sets the stage for a reboot of the Ultimate universe franchise.

Spoiler Alert :
Will contain plot points. Do not read further if you do not want to know the ending.

I still find it hard to believe that they pulled the trigger (but metaphorically and literally). Whilst it’s good to send Peter on a heroic finish defeating the Green Goblin and ensuring the safety of Aunt May, it still felt very sudden. I believe there was still a lot of stories to be told and the direction that Peter was going to receive Ultimates (Avenger) training was still an interesting point to develop.

I do enjoy that this Ultimate universe can push the boundaries but I’m worried that the reboot will lose the essence of a character that the readers have grown to love. The story was valiant and it showed Peter standing up with his foes while slowly bleeding out from an earlier injury. The ending and anguish for Aunt May and Mary Jane brought emotion into an otherwise bleak story.

The third piece in the Swish series by Dion Hamill which is currently on eBay. The use of the light in this piece is amazing with brightness almost blinding. The shadows are also well blended in. Dion has painted in gouache on stiff quality illustration board.

From a previous post, featured artist Dion Hamill described two new series that he was currently working on, namely Swish and Tinman. The second Tinman piece is currently on eBay. This piece is painted with gouache on stiff quality illustration board. I think this piece is incredible as the tinman discovers a patch of green in a concrete jungle.

Flight :

You mentioned you were working on 2 new series. How does this piece Flight fit it?

Flight is a piece in the Swish series. Swish is part of a new series of ACEOs (art cards editions and originals) influenced by light and movement. Each card is created using gouache on illustration board and are 2.5 x 3.5 inches. For this first series there will only be 9 images in total with a print edition of 30 for each.

And the second series?

The other series called Tinman, with what I’m hoping will be inspirational or thought provoking. Each are ACEO size and this series may only have 9 pieces.

It’s been a while since the last showcase by featured artist Dion Hamill. This Wonder Woman showcase is gouache on illustration board. I like everything Dion creates and this one is no exception!

Also in keeping with the iPhone wallpaper for the home and lock screen, I thought it’d be fun to use the showcase on my iPhone. It does suit it very well! I think I might just use this image for a little while.
