And finally, it’s new TV Season!
With that the return of the regulars like The Big Bang Theory, Fringe and the one I’m most excited with Supernatural. This picks up from the Season 6 cliffhanger where Castiel absorbs the souls from Purgatory to gain a lot of power. This first episode of the season opens various plotline including the new villain Leviathan (not your typical monster of the week), Sam’s wall in his head breaking down and maybe (just maybe) the return of Lucifer.

This episode shows the return of Death in an effort to stop Castiel. Wonder who the “hottie” will be for this seaon. It was Julia Maxwell playing the “Mother of All” in Season 6.

Thor Sketch :

I’ve been meaning to do a short write up since I saw the movie a few weeks back. (Better late than never, right?) Absolutely loved it! Went it with very small expectations and it performed. Chris Hemsworth does a great job portraying arrogance to humility. It’s also incredible how much Hemsworth bulked up for the role, previously he was acting on an Australian soap.

The effects were amazing especially the shots of Asgard. However I think the crux to any of these films working is a good story and characters you can relate to. Even though Thor was a god, it’s still a story about redemption which let’s face it . . I’m sure everyone has screwed something up at one point in their life. Anyway check it out if you get the chance! Stay past the credits for a little extra scene with Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson).

On another note I’ve been making my way through 80+ issues of The Walking Dead (Kirkman). It’s probably the most engaging and frightening series that I’ve read in a while. The fear is more the how far humanity can collapse under a huge external threat which in this case are flesh eating zombies.

No list of signers have been announced as of yet, but in the past Upper Deck has done a solid job 0f landing a name or two of top talent such as Don Cheadle and Mickey Rourke for Iron Man 2. Potentials include Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman or Anthony Hopkins but nothing confirmed yet.

I wonder how many people will use that line on her now. I can imagine everyone at a convention saying it and just hoping . . perhaps . . it’ll work. (Hehe . . Raj actually had a pretty good shot at it.)

This episode closes off the Apocalypse story arc with the final battle between Michael and Lucifer. I really enjoyed the episode and the foreshadowing (and narration) by Chuck the prophet. While not the perfect happy ending, it is an ending that closes off a lot of the loose ends. While I’m trying not to spoil too much of the plot, if you haven’t seen the episode, you might want to stop reading now.

Last chance.

I thought the writing was exceptional without a deus ex machina (pun intended) to stop the final fight between the Michael and Lucifer. In the end, Dean and Sam chose family and both Michael and Lucifer (of is he?) trapped again. It was a great wrap up and nice to see Dean finally getting some happiness with Lisa. (Wow . . this is really being to read like a soap opera!)

Anyway . . I’m a little iffy on Season 6. I’ve read it’s a return to the monster of the week episodes whilst trying to repair the relationship between the brothers. Will definitely check it out when it returns to air. Also it would be nice to see if Chuck is really Gabriel, which was hinted at as well.

It’s finally out here in Australia! Iron Man 2 released 28 April 2010 (UK release 30 April 2010 and US/Canada on the 7 May 2010). With Robert Downey Jnr reprising his role as Tony Stark, it’s been getting some rave reviews with Samuel L Jackson and Scarlett Johansson stealing their scenes as Nick Fury and the Black Widow respectively. Definitely going to try to catch it this weekend, along with Free Comic Book Day on 01 May 2010!

Make sure you stay for the extra ending after the credits! It’s confirmed there’s a little Easter Egg for those willing to wait right until the end of the movie.
